Miah Artola is a cross media artist, combining her painting and drawing with motion and audio responsive installations. She co-invented APE (Audio Peak Etcher), a software for live visuals. Miah developed a multi-platform project (fine arts, documentary, installation) on poetry and politics in Nicaragua; she is of Nicaraguan descent and has returned three times to develop this project. She is a video editor, founder of Artola Digital, and an upcoming instructor at The School of Visual Arts. Mercedes Gallego is an award winning international journalist covering US politics and major events in Latin America since 1994, from the Zapatista upraising in Chiapas to the current unrest in Nicaragua. Her coverage of war-zones and humanitarian reporting has taken her to every continent. Mercedes was the only Spanish woman embedded with the US marines during the invasion of Iraq, where she witnessed the appalling reality of sexual abuses within the military. Her book “Beyond the Battle” and the documentary “Rape in the Ranks: The Enemy Within” gave voice to the victims. She currently works as the sole United States Correspondent of the Spanish newspaper El Correo and Vocento Media Group.
